Good morning everyone. My blood sugars are staying in the 155-165 range this past week which goes to show you that lowering it the natural way is hard but going backwards by having 3 cheat days in a row is easy. I will get the count back down but it's going to take 2 weeks to reverse the damage 3 days did to me. Granted it's still half of what it was to begin with which is great but it's not good enough.
Today's health tip is about the MYTHS that persist regarding fat and cholesterol levels. For 30 plus years now we've seen fad diets come and go from high fat/protein (Atkins) and low fat/protein with high carbs (Pritikin diet). Both diets have their good and bad points but the high fat (trans fats are bad while saturated fats are good) and high cholesterol myth is just that a myth! The debate can rage on between the two diets forever but they both focus on using pure whole foods which is a good thing that they share. My point today is that the right fats are essential for total body health just as the right carbs (from whole veggies and berries) are essential as well. However for losing weight I found the Atkins diet (modified to include berries and veggies) is most effective at least for me. If you're a vegetarian that's cool just make sure to eat veggies that give you real protein. Here's today's supporting article.
